The schedule for the elections of the Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and student representatives in the Hall Parliament and Senate of Dhaka University, which have been inactive for a long time, has been announced. The date for voting in the elections has been set for September 9.
Today, Tuesday (July 29) at 4 pm, the schedule for the DUCSU and Hall Parliament elections was announced by the Chief Returning Officer of the Election Commission, Professor Dr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin, in the conference room on the second floor of the university’s Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building.
According to the announcement, the voting will be held from 8 am to 3 pm on September 9. Professor Jasim Uddin of the University’s Department of Botany has been appointed as the Chief Returning Officer for the elections.
At a press conference last week, the Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University said that for the first time in history, DUCSU elections will be held in a total of 6 centers outside the residential halls. Students from the latest 2019-20 session to the current academic year will be able to become candidates and voters in the DUCSU elections.
The various stages of the election as per the schedule are as follows:
- Publication of draft voter list: July 30, 2025
- Last date for receiving objections to the draft voter list: August 6, 2025, up to 4 pm.
- Publication of final voter list: August 11, 2025, 4 pm.
- Distribution of nomination papers: August 12, 2025 to August 18, 2025. (From 10 am to 4 pm).
- Last date for submission of nomination papers: August 19, 2025 up to 3 pm.
- Selection of nomination papers: August 20, 2025
- Publication of preliminary list of candidates: August 21, 2025 at 1 pm.
- Last date for withdrawal of nomination papers: August 25, 2025 up to 1 pm.
- Publication of final list of candidates: August 26, 2025 at 4 pm
- Date of voting: September 9, 2025. (From 8 am to 3 pm).
- Counting of votes and declaration of results: 9 September 2025. (Immediately after the voting)
