National University's initiative for digital attendance of examinees

National University’s initiative for digital attendance of examinees. As part of the transparency and modernization of the National University examination, the National University has launched a digital attendance program for examinees. Through this initiative, the presence of examinees during the examination will be registered digitally from now on.

This information was given in a notification signed by National University’s Examination Controller Md. Enamul Karim on Saturday.

The notification said, ‘In order to perform all the examination-related tasks (form filling, distribution of admit cards, attendance, taking marks of answer sheets and preparing examination results, etc.) in a digital process, it has been decided to conduct the examination through the Examination Management System (EMS) Software. In this regard, it is requested to take digital attendance and complete other tasks through Android mobile apps using the (EMS) Software in the 2023 Honors 4th Year Examination.’

EMS Software Center Panel and Invigilator App Management, Attendance Sending and Other Related Instructions:

Center Panel: ‘Before the start of the examination, the Principal/Center Secretary, Examination Management Committee Member/Room Inspector will create the Center Panel (center / regional center) of EMS Software (ems.nu.ac.bd) and deploy the invigilator to the specific examination through App Access.

For each center, there will be a User ID and Password of the Center Panel of EMS Software, which will be provided through e-mail from the National University. The college e-mail will be used as the User ID.

The mobile device must be turned on at least 01 (one) hour before the start of the examination and check whether the mobile has sufficient charge. The internet connection must be turned on in the device.’

The notification states, ‘The roll number of the absent examinees must be typed and submitted by clicking on the Absent Entry menu from the Center Panel. The information of the expelled examinees must be downloaded from the Center Panel with detailed information and sent to the Examination Controller’s Office as per the previous rules.

  • After finalizing the list of present and absent examinees, the Top Sheet should be downloaded.
  • Print the Top Sheet and save 01 (one) copy at the center and send 01 (one) copy with E-Type.’

Invigilator App: ‘The room inspector will log in to the Invigilator app with the User ID (e-mail and password) of the room inspector. After logging in, the inspector will select the assigned exam in the Invigilator app and create a room number.

Immediately after the start of the exam, the room inspector will collect the attendance of all the examinees present in the room one by one using the NU Invigilator app installed on his mobile phone and send it to the National University server. If necessary, the room inspector can take the assistance of a representative of the National University. The work of taking the attendance of the examinees must be completed within the examination time.

As before, the attendance of the examinees on the attendance sheet will have to be taken, saved and sent to the National University.

For technical assistance in attendance work and use of the Center Panel through mobile, the software manufacturer/representative of the National University can be contacted.

The Invigilator App can be downloaded and installed by searching for “NU Invigilator” in the Google Play Store of any Android mobile phone. Link (https://play.google.com/store/apps/
