Side Effects of Drinking Too Much Water

Side Effects of Drinking Too Much Water. We have known since childhood that water is another name for life. About 60 percent of our body weight is water. Just as it is very necessary for our body, drinking too much in a short time can cause harm to the body. Drinking too much can lead to hyponatremia, which is known as water poisoning. This can have a negative effect on the human body, causing people to go into coma – and even death.

How much water a healthy adult needs throughout the day depends on weight, age, climate and physical condition. Generally, a healthy adult should drink about 2 liters or 8 glasses of water daily. The body’s need for water may increase if the weather is hot or physical exertion is high.

Drinking enough water is very important to stay healthy. Drinking water activates the human body and removes toxins from the body. Not drinking enough water can cause various physical complications including constipation, urinary tract infections, kidney stones, and dry skin.

Just as drinking enough water is essential for our body, drinking too much water is also harmful to our body. Drinking too much water in a short period of time can cause a drop in sodium levels in the blood, which is known as hyponatremia. This can lead to headaches, nausea, seizures, coma, and even death.

Drinking too much water after a meal dilutes the juices secreted by the gastric glands, which interferes with the normal process of digestion. This can also cause problems like flatulence, gas, and acidity.

Many of us think that drinking more water keeps the body hydrated, so we drink more water than necessary. But in fact, this idea is completely wrong. Drinking more water than necessary can be dangerous for our human body. So everyone should be careful about this.
