Bangladeshi-origin Farhan to play for English Football Club

Bangladeshi-origin footballers Anwar Uddin, Hamza Chowdhury and Cuba Mitchell are showing their dominance in various football clubs in England. Now another youngster has joined the list – Farhan Ali Wahid. The 18-year-old winger has signed a professional contract with English Premier League club Fulham.

So far, Farhan has played for Fulham’s academy. However, his football career started at Chelsea’s academy. From there, he joined Fulham while playing for the U-13 team. Then, he went through every step of the academy and reached the U-21 team.

Last season, Farhan played 20 matches for the U-18 team. He scored 7 goals and 4 assists. He made his debut for Fulham’s U-21 team in the same season. He scored a goal as a substitute against PSV in the Premier League International Cup.

After signing a professional contract with Fulham, Farhan said, “I can’t really describe this feeling. I’ve been working hard for this moment since I started playing football. And now I’ve reached this stage, it feels amazing.”

Farhan also said, “I joined Fulham at the U-13 level. After that, the journey was like a rollercoaster. At every step, I had a good team of teammates by my side, who embraced me from the beginning. My family has always been there, made a lot of sacrifices. They always said – keep your feet on the ground.”

Both of Farhan’s parents are Bangladeshi. Although he has not yet set foot on Bangladeshi soil, only time will tell whether he will be seen in the national team jersey in the future.
