DIU is the Top University in the country in THE Ranking 2025. Daffodil International University is the best university in the country in the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking.

The Daffodil International University is at the top of the country’s public and private universities in the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking. The UK-based education magazine Times Higher Education (THE) has published its latest impact ranking for 2025. The organization published this ranking on Wednesday (June 18). This time, 8 public universities and 12 private universities from Bangladesh have been ranked in the ranking.

Overall, Daffodil International University is ranked first among Bangladeshi universities and between 101-200th globally in this ranking. American International University, BRAC University, Green University and United International University are jointly ranked second in the list, ranging from 601-800th.

The remaining private universities in the list are International University of Business Agriculture and Technology, Independent University of Bangladesh, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh, World University of Bangladesh, Dhaka International University, State University of Bangladesh and Barendra University.

Gazipur Agricultural University has secured the first place among the public universities. Moreover, the remaining public universities in the list are Bangladesh Agricultural University, Jahangirnagar University, Jessore University of Science and Technology, Dhaka University, Rajshahi University, Khulna University and Chittagong University.

This time, Western Sydney University of Australia is at number one in the list. It is followed by the University of Manchester in England.

The ranking has been prepared based on 17 specific categories. These include, No Poverty; Zero Hunger; Good Health and Wellbeing; Quality Education; Gender Equality; Clean Water and Sanitation; Of Doll and Clean Energy; Decent Work and Economic Growth; Industry Innovation and Infrastructure; Recognised Inequalities; Sustainable Cities and Communities; Responsible Consumption and Production; Climate Change; Life Below Water; Life on Land; Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions and Partnership for the Goals.

The Times Higher Education website also provides a detailed explanation of the indicators considered in determining the rankings. It says that the teaching index is given importance in determining the overall quality of the university, i.e. in determining the rankings. The second indicator looks at the reputation of the research work of the university concerned, income from research and the number and quality of research.

Another important indicator is research citations. In this case, the number of times a university’s published work is cited by researchers worldwide. The International Outlook Index measures international engagement along with the university’s domestic and international student-staff ratio. Industry Income measures a university’s ability to support industry through discovery, innovation, and consulting.
