Government Employees will get 'Special Benefits' Notice Issued

Government Employees will get a ‘Special Benefits’ Notice Issued. The government has issued a notification announcing ‘special benefits’ at a rate of 10 to 15 percent for government employees. Under this benefit, effective from July 1, officers and employees in grades 10 to 20 will receive a total of 15 percent, and officers in grades 1 to 9 will receive this financial assistance at a rate of 10 percent.

A notification in this regard was issued by the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday (June 3).

It said that officers and employees working in government-civil, autonomous and state-owned institutions, banks, insurance and other financial institutions, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the police force under the national pay scale, as well as pensioners, will also come under this benefit. This benefit will be applicable at a minimum rate of 1,000 taka for employees and a minimum rate of 500 taka for pensioners.

Earlier on Monday (June 2), while presenting the proposed budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year in the National Parliament, Finance Advisor Dr. Salehuddin said that the total expenditure in this year’s budget has been estimated at 7 lakh 90 thousand crore taka, which is 12.7 percent of the country’s total GDP. Out of this, 2 lakh 30 thousand crore taka has been allocated for the annual development program and 5 lakh 60 thousand crore taka for other sectors.

In his budget speech, the financial advisor also said that this special benefit has been added as a measure of relief for government employees, as no new salary structure has been formulated since 2015. Although there was no announcement regarding dearness allowance in the budget, rather this special benefit was officially announced through a notification.
