Minhajul Abedin Nannu Takes on New Role in Asia Cup 2025

Minhajul Abedin Nannu Takes on New Role in Asia Cup 2025. The 17th edition of the Asia Cup T20 tournament is set to begin on September 9, with the final match scheduled for September 28. This year’s continental championship will feature a total of 19 matches, with 11 games taking place in Dubai and the remaining eight in Abu Dhabi.

Former Bangladesh national team chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu has been assigned a new role for this prestigious tournament. He has joined the Asia Cup’s technical committee, which includes representatives from five different participating nations. However, due to visa complications, Nannu has not yet been able to travel to the United Arab Emirates. If his visa is approved, he is expected to fly out as early as today.

This year’s tournament includes eight teams, divided into two groups, marking an expansion from the previous edition which featured six. Group A consists of defending champions India, hosts United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, and Oman. Group B features Bangladesh alongside Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong.

In the group stage, each team will play one match against every other team in its group. The top two teams from each group will progress to the Super Four stage. From there, the best two teams will compete in the final on September 28 in Dubai to determine the Asia Cup champion.

Bangladesh will play all of its group stage matches in Abu Dhabi. The Tigers will kick off their campaign on September 11 against Hong Kong. They will then face Sri Lanka on September 13 and Afghanistan on September 16. The team, led by Litton Das, is aiming to make a strong impression in the tournament and reach the knockout stages.
