NSU Architecture Department Hosts Parent Engagement Session for Summer 2025

NSU Architecture Department Hosts Parent Engagement Session of Summer 2025. The program title is “Building Bridges: NSU Architecture Department Hosts Parent Engagement Session”. The Department of Architecture at North South University organized a socially responsive event titled “Meet the Parents” on July 17, 2025. The session highlighted NSU’s commitment to being one of the most caring and responsive universities in the country.

The event was chaired by Shahriar Iqbal Raj, Assistant Professor and Chair of the Department. Parents of newly admitted students were invited to participate in an open and meaningful discussion with the faculty. Several faculty members were present at the event, including:

  • Dr. Saiful Islam, Professor
  • Ar. Mujtaba Ahsan, Associate Professor
  • Dr. Maruf Hossain, Assistant Professor
  • Ar. AKM Saleh Ahmed Anik, Lecturer
  • Eshana Nur Masud, Lecturer

To begin, faculty members shared personal experiences from their own student lives and professional journeys in architectural education, offering guidance and inspiration to both students and their families.

The primary goal of the event was to strengthen the connection between the Department of Architecture and the parents of first-year students. Parents were warmly welcomed and encouraged to share their thoughts, concerns, and expectations regarding their children’s academic experience. Almost 26 parents attended the session, and all appreciated the initiative.

Given the current circumstances in the country, many parents expressed that they often remain under mental stress concerning their children’s safety and academic performance. They noted that initiatives like this help build trust in institutions like NSU and provide much-needed reassurance and confidence.

In his remarks, the Department Chair emphasized that architecture is a unique and demanding discipline, requiring a high level of dedication. “If students are sincere in their studies, they will find success in life,” he noted, urging parents to support and encourage their children as they navigate this rigorous academic journey, which differs significantly from many other disciplines.

It was also acknowledged that architecture students often spend long hours in studios and classrooms, deeply engaged in projects and design studies. The department expressed sincere gratitude to the parents for their understanding and patience, emphasizing that this extended commitment is essential for developing both creative and technical skills throughout the five-year professional program.

The session concluded on a positive and hopeful note, with mutual appreciation shared by both faculty and parents. The department remains committed to continuing such interactions, strengthening a collaborative and supportive environment that promotes student growth and long-term success.
