Jessore Medical College announces closure of all political activities

Jessore Medical College announces closure of all political activities. The authorities have announced closure of all social, cultural and political activities of Jessore Medical College, including the student service organization Sandhani, until further notice. The decision was announced in a notification signed by the college’s principal, Professor Dr. Abu Hasanat Md. Ahsan Habib, on Tuesday (July 1).

The notification said that all activities of any organization, including Sandhani, have been ordered to be closed at Jessore Medical College until further notice.

It is learned that the first decision to close all types of organizational activities was made in the extended meeting of the Medical College Academic Council on August 8 last year. But no one followed that instruction for unknown reasons. After the change in the political context, a political organization again started openly political activities in the college. At the same time, students also got involved with them. Some teachers divided the students into two groups through their supporters. As a result, two rival groups were formed in the voluntary organization Sandhani Unit.

Ordinary students feel that they are the victims of conflict. As a result, it has been decided to temporarily suspend all activities of Sandhani to calm the situation. They welcomed this.

College Principal Professor Dr. Abu Hasnat Md. Ahsan Habib said, there was a fear of unpleasant incidents happening at any time due to the division and confrontation between the students. We have considered the matter seriously and have suspended the activities of all organizations including Sandhani until further notice. Students will not be allowed to be used as a tool for any political or personal ideology. We are determined to maintain a disciplined academic environment.
