It has been decided to release a new design 100 taka note in the market. This note will come to the market from Tuesday (August 12), Bangladesh Bank said. This information was confirmed in a press release sent by the Communications and Publications Department signed by Bangladesh Bank Director Nurunnahar on Sunday (August 10).
It was informed that the central bank has taken the initiative to print notes of all denominations in a new series on the country’s historical and archaeological architecture. As part of this, after 1000, 50 and 20 taka, a new 100 taka note signed by Governor Ahsan H Mansur will be introduced. Initially, the note will be issued from Bangladesh Bank’s Motijheel office and later from other branches.
According to Bangladesh Bank, the color of the ‘100’ written on the right corner of the new note is changeable – it will change from golden to green when moved. There is a red and bright silver security thread on the left side, which will change from red to green when moved. The note has three small circles that can be felt by the touch of the hand. To the right of the governor’s signature, there is an invisible ‘100’, which can only be seen when held against the light.
The front of the new 100-tk note has a picture of the Shat Gombuj Mosque in Bagerhat and a view of the Sundarbans on the back. The blue note has a picture of a lotus flower.
So far, Bangladesh Bank has released images of the newly designed 500, 200, 100 and 10 taka banknotes and 5 and 2 taka currency notes. Each note highlights important historical, natural and cultural symbols of the country and has been enhanced with security features to prevent counterfeiting. However, the old notes will also continue to be valid.
Earlier, last June, Bangladesh Bank distributed the newly designed 1000, 50 and 20 taka notes to banks in a limited number, which were made available to customers from June 2.
