Private students declare ‘Private University Resistance Day’. Private university students have declared July 18 as ‘Private University Resistance Day‘. At the same time, they have demanded that the day be recognized as a national day. On Monday (June 30) afternoon, the Private University Students Alliance of Bangladesh (PUSAB) made this demand on their social media.
In a post there, it is said that if it were not for the courageous resistance of July 18, the victory of August 5 might have remained elusive. The largest number of students were martyred and injured on this day. Therefore, considering the importance of the day, it is important to give national recognition as ‘Private University Resistance Day’.
The post says that this day is not only a day of remembrance, but also brings inspiration for resistance. We want this day to be recognized nationally. The government will declare July 18 as ‘Private University Resistance Day’ and publish a gazette as soon as possible – this is our expectation.
The post also said that July 18 was a turning point in the long history of deprivation of private university students. It is the demand of the hour to give national recognition to the day, honoring the martyrs and injured of this movement.
